| Website contact and deletion requests | Name, email, topic, message, optional country/region, optional app user ID, app instance ID, advertising ID, or other identifier you voluntarily provide. | To answer support messages, process privacy requests, and keep records of request handling. | The information you submit is sent to us and may be processed by our email, hosting, or form provider. |
Depending on the version of the app, Android version, and the features you use, SmartClean may request the following permissions or special access settings. You can grant, deny, or revoke permissions in Android settings. If a permission is denied, the related feature may not work or may offer a limited fallback.
For sensitive features, SmartClean is designed to show an in-app explanation before requesting access. Examples include broad storage access, folder access for WhatsApp media, usage access, notification access, network speed testing, and any optional accessibility mode. The disclosure explains what data is accessed, why it is needed, what is not collected, and how the user can decline or revoke access.
Cleaner actions are user-controlled. The app is designed to show results before deletion and ask for confirmation before deleting selected files, photos, WhatsApp media, or apps. Android may also show system confirmation screens for media deletion and app uninstall actions.
The WhatsApp Cleaner feature scans locally stored WhatsApp media and related files on your device after you grant storage or folder access. It can delete selected files to free up storage. We do not upload your WhatsApp files, messages, contacts, chat names, file names, file paths, database names, backup files, or file contents to our servers.
SmartClean does not delete WhatsApp chat databases, backups, msgstore files, .crypt files, WhatsApp account data, or internal WhatsApp app data. Deleting selected WhatsApp media may cause those media files to stop opening inside WhatsApp chats. The app is designed to tell you this before deletion.
SmartClean is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC, Meta Platforms, Inc., or any of their affiliates. WhatsApp names and logos belong to their respective owners.
Network Speed Test runs only after you start it. The app connects to third-party network measurement services, primarily Measurement Lab (M-Lab) NDT7 and, if needed, Cloudflare Speed Test endpoints. A speed test can use significant data, especially on mobile data, so the app may show a mobile-data warning before the test starts.
When you use M-Lab, M-Lab may collect technical measurement data and connection metadata related to the test, including the IP address used for the test, test date/time, server information, network information, and performance metrics. M-Lab may retain and publish measurement data, including IP addresses, under its own privacy policy and data policy. We do not control M-Lab’s records and may not be able to delete M-Lab test data for you.
When you use Cloudflare Speed Test endpoints, Cloudflare may receive your IP address, estimate your location at country/city level, identify your network or Autonomous System Number (ASN), process test timing and performance metrics, truncate IP addresses for speed-test processing as described by Cloudflare, and share anonymized measurement information with measurement partners under Cloudflare’s own policies. We do not use Network Speed Test to access your browsing history, personal files, messages, photos, precise GPS location, contacts, or private content.
Our analytics for this feature are designed to use technical aggregates, such as provider used, fallback status, connection type, download/upload Mbps, bytes transferred, duration, error type, and whether mobile data was cancelled. We do not intentionally send raw IP address, hostnames, exact device location, URLs you visit, browsing history, or private content to Amplitude, Firebase, or our own analytics.
Device Status collects device information locally to display technical details such as Android version, memory, storage, battery, CPU, and screen information. This feature is designed to work without requesting runtime permissions. We do not use Device Status to collect IMEI, IMSI, phone number, contacts, messages, files, user accounts, serial number, Android ID, MAC address, SIM data, operator subscriber data, or exact hardware identifiers that are not needed for the feature.
Analytics for Device Status may include only aggregated technical events such as screen opened, operation status, duration, and unavailable fields count. If product decisions require sending Android version or device model in analytics, that must be reflected in the app’s data audit and Google Play Data safety disclosure.
SmartClean is free and monetized through advertising. We use the AppLovin SDK and AppLovin MAX mediation platform to show ads. AppLovin may make ads available from its own services and from mediated advertising networks. We may also use consent management, Firebase services, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Performance Monitoring, Firebase Remote Config, Amplitude, Google Play services, hosting, email, and similar providers to operate, secure, analyze, improve, and monetize the app.
Depending on your device settings, consent choices, region, SDK versions, and app configuration, these providers may process data such as:
The AppLovin SDK and AppLovin's mediated advertising networks may collect or receive the advertising ID, IP address, device or other identifiers, ad request and interaction data, diagnostic information, and consent signals. This information is transmitted to AppLovin and, where an ad is served through mediation, to the relevant advertising network so that ads can be delivered, measured, personalized where permitted, frequency-capped, and protected against fraud. Firebase data collection depends on the Firebase SDKs used and app configuration. Amplitude may process event data; we do not add raw IP addresses to Amplitude event properties, and where supported by SDK or account settings, we configure Amplitude to disable IP tracking or drop IP addresses after ingestion.
We configure analytics events to avoid personal file names, file paths, document contents, message contents, contact names, phone numbers, raw IP addresses, precise GPS location, IMEI, serial number, Android ID, MAC address, full installed-app lists, and notification text.
In the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and other regions where required, the app may show a consent message for personalized ads, measurement, and related data processing. You can manage ad personalization through Android advertising settings, Google settings, and any consent controls shown in the app. Non-personalized or limited ads may still require certain technical data for delivery, security, frequency capping, and fraud prevention.
The Google Play Data safety section for SmartClean must match the actual app build, SDK versions, permissions, and configuration. Depending on the release, Data safety may need to disclose data categories such as app activity, app interactions, diagnostics, crash logs, performance data, device or other identifiers, approximate location derived from IP, advertising data, and user-provided contact/support information. It must also account for data collected or shared by third-party SDKs, even if the data is sent directly to those SDK providers and not to our own servers.
This policy is intended to be consistent with the Data safety section, but the Play Console form must be reviewed whenever permissions, SDKs, analytics events, ad settings, consent settings, or app features change.
Third-party services may process information under their own privacy policies and terms. Relevant providers may include:
We use information to provide app features, show results to you, remember settings, maintain safety and security, fix bugs, measure performance, prevent fraud and abuse, show ads, manage consent, comply with legal obligations, respond to support and deletion requests, and improve the app.
We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate analytics, diagnostics, advertising, consent management, hosting, email, support, and speed testing. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal files, WhatsApp files, photos, videos, documents, notification text, contacts, or private content. Some advertising or analytics processing may be considered a "sale", "sharing", or targeted advertising under certain privacy laws. Where required, we provide applicable opt-out or consent controls.
| Category | Typical retention |
|---|---|
| Local cleaner scan data and settings | Stored on your device until you rescan, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Some temporary local scan results may be deleted automatically after the operation or after they are no longer needed. |
| Local files, photos, WhatsApp media, and notifications | We do not store these on our servers. They remain on your device unless you delete selected items. |
| Support and contact messages | Usually retained for up to 24 months after the last interaction, unless a longer period is needed for security, legal, tax, abuse-prevention, or dispute reasons. |
| Deletion and privacy request records | Usually retained for up to 36 months so we can document request handling and comply with legal obligations. |
| Analytics, diagnostics, ad, and consent data | Retained according to provider settings and our configuration, generally no longer than needed for analytics, diagnostics, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and service improvement. Event-level analytics is intended to be configured to a limited retention period where available. Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained longer. |
| M-Lab and Cloudflare speed test data | Handled by those providers under their own policies. M-Lab may retain and publish measurement data; Cloudflare processes speed test data under its own privacy terms. We do not control their independent retention rules. |
To protect privacy and security, we may need to verify your request. Because SmartClean does not require accounts, some analytics or third-party data may not be reasonably identifiable unless you provide an identifier available in the app or device settings. We cannot delete data that we do not control, such as independent records held by M-Lab, Cloudflare, Google, or Amplitude, but we will explain available options where possible.
SmartClean is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps. The app is not intended to be listed as primarily directed to children unless its design, ads, SDKs, and privacy controls are changed to meet all applicable child-safety and family policies.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. Data transmitted by major SDK providers is typically protected in transit, and we limit analytics events to technical or aggregate data where possible. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
SmartClean, our website, and third-party providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for cross-border transfers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on this website. Please review this policy periodically, especially after app updates that add new features, permissions, SDKs, or data practices.
